The Francophone World

U.Va. libraries fully support the French Studies at the University of Virginia. The study of French at the University of Virginia cultivates an expansive and critical engagement with the French-speaking world of all periods, from the middle Ages to the twenty-first century.
It also emphasizes its intersections with a variety of other fields and topics, including history, comparative literature, linguistics, philosophy, psychoanalysis, gender and sexuality studies, visual arts and film, music, popular culture, Canadian studies, Francophone studies, and politics.
