About Us

The Music Library at the University of Virginia supports research in musicology, theory and analysis, composition, performance, jazz, musical theater, ethnic and world music, popular music, and folk music. The music collection at the University of Virginia is one of the most significant in the southeastern United States, including more than 150,000 books, scores, and sound recordings as well as extensive online collections, including access to more than one million tracks of music. The Music Library occupies the lower floors of Old Cabell Hall and features an unusual Guastavino vault as the ceiling of its main floor reading room.
