Military Records

Both service records and pension applications, among other military records, are useful for genealogy and family history purposes. See resources for: 

This HeritageQuest collection details records of 80,000+ individuals who served in the Revolutionary War and contains both genealogical and historical information. Each veteran's file usually contains six or more pages on each veteran and normally includes the veteran's former rank, unit, and period of service, age or date of birth, residence, and sometimes genealogical information on other family members.

The Revolutionary War Collection can be searched by:

  • Surname
  • Given Name
  • State
  • Service

When a name is searched, the results, as well as, the total number of results is displayed. The names are sorted by Surname with the option to sort by Given Name. There is the option to view a name or the names you wish to save to the Notebook. The marked names held in the Notebook can then be emailed, printed, or downloaded. There is also the option to Take Notes which are saved along with the Marked names and included in the email, print copy, or download.

Clicking on the linked name takes you directly to the positive Image and the ability to view it in the negative. The Image opens at 200%, easily readable, with the ability to view at 100% or 400%. Navigating from one Image to another is done by clicking on an arrow to go to the next Image or to a previous one.
