KINE Library Portal: Students

Welcome

Welcome to the Kinesiology library portal. The portal provides quick links to the resources you need to succeed in your course. Whether you are online or on-Grounds, UVA Library services and support are available to all students.

Your Librarian

Your EHD librarian is Ashley Hosbach.

Each school at UVA is assigned a research librarian. Connect with Ashley for help with your assignments. This service is available to all EHD students, and meeting with a librarian early in your research process can help you save time and get a better grade.

Ashley can help with: learning how to use the Library online, brainstorming your research topic, developing your search strategy, capstone/thesis/dissertation planning, identifying relevant databases/journals for your literature reviews, tracking down resources, and citation management.  Ashley can meet with you in-person or online via Zoom.

Search for academic articles

Academic databases contain peer-reviewed articles, scientific papers, reports, and more. These are the most used databases for Kinesiology research.

SPORTDiscus is the definitive database for sports and sports medicine research. Providing hundreds of full-text sports medicine journals, it is an essential tool for health professionals and researchers studying fitness, health and sports.

PubMed comprises more than 35 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books

Google Scholar is a free academic search engine that can be thought of as the academic version of Google. It searches repositories of publishers, universities or scholarly websites. Sync with UVA Library to access the PDFs.

Help me with APA citations

For most courses in EHD our preferred citation style is American Psychological Association (APA): 7th Edition. APA Style is used by writers in many disciplines around the world for concise, powerful, and persuasive scholarly communication.
