In October 2019 the University of Virginia Libraries and the library at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill signed an MOU to become the first Shared Regional collection across state lines in the FDLP program. The new shared regional arrangement with UNC Chapel Hill will allow both libraries to have more flexibility as their collections grow and space constraints become an issue.
UVA’s govdocs collection will be in storage for the near future during the Main Library's renovation. UVA patrons can access and request Government Information materials through our online catalog, Virgo, other libraries can request these documents through Interlibrary Loan. While we are excited about the flexibility and collaboration opportunities this Shared Regional agreement provide, Regional Library relationships and responsibilities in each state will remain the same.
