Recommended Search Techniques
- ERIC (EBSCO) This link opens in a new windowERIC is the largest education database in the world-containing over 1.5 million records of journal articles, research reports, curriculum and teaching guides, conference papers, dissertations and theses, and books.
- Start with the Advanced Search menu.
2. Set your Advanced Search filters to retrieve empirical articles only. You will want to check the "Peer Reviewed" box. Then, under Publication Type, select "Reports-Research" and if looking for quantitative articles, also select "Numerical/Quantitative Data".
3. Scroll back up to the search bars. Enter in the search phrase:
DE Evidence OR DE Program Effectiveness OR DE Evaluation Utilization OR DE Outcomes of Education
DE stands for descriptor. Descriptors are tags assigned to articles by metadata experts. Similar to how hashtags operate on social media, these terms will help return the articles on program evaluation in ERIC.
4. Finally, in the second search bar, enter in keywords for your topic. Work with your librarian, Ashley, to brainstorm keywords for your topic and design a search strategy!
