A guide to the UVA Library's archive project to collect materials from the "Unite the Right" rally and counter-protests on August 11 and 12, 2017.

How to Protect Your Data and Your Information

What to bring:

  1. Yourself, if you wish to participate by writing your experience with the events surrounding August 12 into a personal story,
  2. Your laptop, if it has the images or other content you wish to transfer and contribute,
  3. A flash drive or USB of images or other content already transferred from your own devices that you wish to contribute, (see this guide on how to safely transfer content from one device to another)
  4. Your phone, if you wish to use the mobile version of the Digital Collections form to upload images or video from your personal device.

(Important Note: We will not be physically connecting any cell phones to transfer materials at this event, so please plan accordingly)
 

What will be provided

  1. Staff to help you write, transfer, and submit your materials,
  2. Technical support, including extra hardware like USB and flash drives to transfer materials,
  3. Wifi
  4. Information on the Digital Archive goals and purpose, as well as future community events
