What is Libkey Nomad
libkey nomad is a browser extension for access to the fulltext of articles. if it can't find a pdf then it will fill out an interlibrary loan request for you. it works in all browsers except safari.
you do not need to be on grounds, connected to vpn, or create an account. you'll be prompted to authenticate using netbadge when needed.
to use libkey nomad
1. download and install the libkey nomad browser extension from either the Chrome or Firefox store
2. select university of virginia as your organization when prompted to do so.
3. close the pop-up window.
4. you'll see the libkey nomad icon on your toolbar:
5. search online as you would normally. journals and articles which uva subscribes to will be available through the extension.
you will see one of the following:
"download PDF"
"access options..."
clicking on this will take you to a pre-filled ILL request form behind netbadge.
Using Libkey Nomad to Access Article from off-Grounds without the VPN
- Locate an article you wish to read.
- Click the Libkey Nomad button on the page.
- There may be a brief delay, and you may see messaging that says, "To access this document, wait a moment or click here to continue"
- The article will load for you to read.
