Data on the university, including demographic data, admissions and enrollment data, and fiscal data, can be found in many places around the university and the library.
Current data
The main source for university data are the datasets created by the Office for Institutional Research and Analytics (IRA). IRA maintains current datasets on the University focusing on admissions, enrollment, and graduation, employee and student demographics, and tuition. Demographics includes information on race and ethnicity. Data is available in interactive visualizations and for export to excel doc. These generally cover 2010/2012 through the current or prior year.
Current UVA students, faculty, and staff can also request data, including historic data, from the IRA.
Similar University data is available from Data USA. This website compares UVA's data to comparable institutions and includes data on financial aid, student income, the endowment, and other information not included in the IRA's online datasets.
Older data
Between 1966 and 2002, IRA published university data in print in a publication called Data Digest. These are available in searchable PDF and in print, by request.
Historic statistical records covering the university from 1825-1906 are available in Special Collections.
GIS Data, including historic aerials and Sanborn maps, can be found on the UVA GIS research guide.
