Software on Library Public Computers

A list of the software on the public computers at the University Library.

Library Public Build Computers & Software Available in the UVA Libraries

All patrons have access to Chrome, Edge and Firefox web browsers, Word 2021, Excel 2021 and PowerPoint 2021, VLC Media Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

This software is available to UVA faculty, staff and students logged in with UVA ESERVICES computing IDs:

  • Hive (Remote Apps client to access the ITS Hive)

Library Public Build Computers & Software in the Scholars' Lab (Shannon 308)

The Scholars' Lab has two types of workstations in its public space (Shannon 308).

1. GIS/3D Data Processing Workstations (UL-ESL308-01 to -04)

All patrons have access to Chrome, Edge and Firefox web browsers, Word 2021, Excel 2021 and PowerPoint 2021, VLC Media Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

All patrons have access to additional software installed:

  • ArcGIS Pro 3.3
  • ArcGIS City Engine
  • GeoMagic Design
  • FARO Scene
  • QGIS 3.38
  • Google Earth Pro

This software is available to UVA faculty, staff and students logged in with UVA ESERVICES computing IDs:

2. Public Computers with Scanners (UL-ESL308-05 + sheet feeder | UL-ESL308-06 + flatbed)

All patrons have access to Chrome, Edge and Firefox web browsers, Word 2021, Excel 2021 and PowerPoint 2021, VLC Media Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

All patrons have access to additional scanning, design, & OCR software installed:

  • Epson or Ricoh scanner software
  • ABBYY FineReader Cloud - Standard
  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro (in place of Acrobat Reader)

This software is available to UVA faculty, staff and students logged in with UVA ESERVICES computing IDs:
