Parliamentary Debates - Overview

Debates are the record of the actual discussion on the floors of both houses. The Debates have been officially recorded and published since 1803.  Commons and Lords debates were published together by Hansard until 1909, when they were separated. In the same year (1909) the debates began to be published by the government, and the term "Official Report" was added to their title.  Debates prior to 1803 are published under "Cobbett's."
