A wide-ranging search engine that tries to index the universe of scholarly literature. It can be overwhelming but also a good place for a first pass at searching for academic articles and books, particularly if your research topic is interdisciplinary.

Zotero is free software that helps you collect, organize, annotate, and cite research. It is extremely helpful when you are writing your paper and need to construct a bibliography.
Upon finding an article on any website, Libkey Nomad identifies if the Library has access (and directs you to the full PDF of the article), or if not, directs you to Interlibrary Loan to allow you to get quick access to any article, anywhere.
